Any chance this little guy is a golden trout or hybrid? Caught in Fish Creek, a tributary of the South Fork of the Kern River.

Golden, but please consider removing the name of the specific fishery given that they have such a small native range!

This is most likely a hybrid. Fish caught in the lower sections / tributaries of the south fork are likely to be hybridized with rainbow trout. If you want to catch a true golden in its native range you’ll have to hike / backpack towards the headwaters.
