Looking to get a bait cast setup

Howdy folks! I’ve really gotten into bass fishing this past year (prior to this I usually fished for catfish).

I’ve been using a Shimano spinning reel thus far, but I want to treat myself to something new- I’m having heart valve surgery next week.

Am I missing out not having a baitcaster? Any suggestions for a budget of $200-300 for reel and pole?
