Just got a new rod in, two part savage gear SG medium game. Where the two parts meet it shows this exposed area, I don’t want to force it on, it doesn’t feel like it wants to go further. Is this how it should be? Or is the tip mismatched with the bottom maybe? My order rods don’t have this type of finish so not really have any reference to compare. Rather send it back if it’s not correct.

Idk the rod but I sure as shit wouldn’t cast like that. I think you need to push it on a little harder or maybe you just have a defective rod.
