I went fishing mostly trying to get perch with my new set up and I didn't get anything but I was fishing a river with a pretty fast and strong current so I don't know I'm just unlucky or am I using the type of lures (if it helps I know the soft baits are 5 cm long but I'm not sure about the spinners)
Also sorry for being so unknowing but I would usually fishing carp and I want to start going for smaller species and lighter rods so any tips or advice would be a huge help

Were you fishing the soft baits on jigheads? Those should work.
Spinners and soft plastics will work great for perch. If the current is to strong though you’ll find they aren’t getting to where you want them. In that case you should up size your weight.
