Pretty stoked. I haven't been like.. hardcore trying to get a carp, but its been on my list for the last 2 years. I was doing some smallmouth fishing today, and beached the kayak to eat some lunch. Decided to walk up the shore a bit and saw a pod of carp feeding in some current. Grabbed the fly rod and tied on a bead head mop fly. Proceeded to make a bunch of bad casts but they were so focused on feeding I somehow didn't spook them.. was about to give up when I saw this one line right up with my leader and slurp something off the bottom. I gave it a hook set and fish on!
Hell of a fight, but managed to land it. So much fun.

Nice catch, great fight. How did you fish the mop fly?
(I got some spooky carp in a river pool that looks about 6-8ft from one end but when u get to the other side it’s really like 10-15 feet. Those carp are on my bucket list 🙂
