Hey guys, I found an old Abu Garcia I got when I was a kid and I was hoping to set it up for catfishing. I got it on a rod and polled up only to realize the drag is super weak. I'm turning the 5 spoke wheel counter clockwise until it's very difficult to turn any more, but I can still crank the handle without turning the spool, I'd say it has less than 10# of resistance and I can't turn the wheel any further. Can I fix this? Am I doing it wrong? It's been sitting in storage for many years.

First try cleaning off the drag washers you have, plenty of YT vids to show how. Also get an online schematic, make sure the sequence of drag washers is correct.
But if they are completely worn out then spring for a set of Carbontex or other brand of carbon fiber drag washers.
