Anyone have tips or suggestions how to fish cover like this? Top water didn’t produce any bites, and I tried to fish the edge with a jig and swimbait, but nothing.

1oz bullet weight and Texas rig? Something else?

I’m using a Med heavy rod and 35lb braid.
Thanks

  1. Weightless Texas rigged senko or craw(1/8-1/4 bullet weight if it’s windy). Or top water if they’re active

  2. I like running weedless , light weight(1/8oz or less) paddle tails over that stuff where I am. Light enough for when you pause, it rests on top of the veg.

Top water frog. Whopper plopper if the vegetation doesn’t touch the surface. You’ll probably get some massive blow ups on the plopper early morning or late afternoon.

If topwater fails I’d be trying weightless Texas rigged floating worms, flukes on belly weighted EWG hooks, and punching every little hole in the grass.

I would throw a zoom 6 inch lizard/salamander Texas rigged with no added weight. Your setup is a tad heavier than mine (light action rod with 10lb braid) but it should work. A senko plastic worm would work too and is a bit heavier for casting distance

  6. I agree with everyone else with their choices, but I’ll add a Mini Max or Jackhammer. I have good luck punching thru that shit.
