I have this old Abu Garcia “Cardinal S30” spinning reel that still works great, except for the grip breaking off of the handle. The hole where the pin sits is pretty worn/threaded – is super glue an alright temporary fix, or should I try installing a new handle? Should I simply buy a new reel?
I only use this reel as a backup/spare setup, so it just needs to be functional and I’d prefer not to buy a new reel.

Contact the factory to see if you can purchase a new one.
I would try JB weld or epoxy, something stronger than super glue. Just make sure not to put too much where you accidently glue the knob as well.
If you know the model you can get replacements on Amazon for cheap.
