I am trying to decide if it is worth getting a new kayak for next season so looking for input as to whether I am just overthinking or it’s actually worth it!

For some context I already have a boat (12ft Lund) that I use from March to early August. But as the river I fish usually drops super low by August and in to the fall I can’t use my boat so I switch to a kayak. The kayak above is a 9.5 perception and while it’s not bad it’s biggest redeeming quality is I can beat the sh*t out of it. I am constantly running over rocks and rapids and banging it around. It’s also nice because I can fit it in my car (Honda pilot) easily without having to deal with putting it on the roof.

My biggest problem with it is the lack of storage, I can really bring one tackle box and a bag of plastics. It’s also super uncomfortable for trips over 5 hours.

Basically I have two questions:
1. Given the type of fishing I do is it even worth upgrading because I’ll be beating up any kayak I get
2. If I do get a new one what recommendations would you all have? I’d like to try and get one under 10’ so that I can fit it in my car. Budget isn’t too much of a concern – would like to try and keep it under $1200

2 points, most fishermen like the sit on top type, although you look like you’ve mastered the sit in. Second point is that right now, at the end of summer, is the best time of year to score a close out deal.
