Caught in the Penobscot River in Maine using a Clouser on a 6wt. Fish is about 10” long, give or take.

  1. Looks like a white sucker fish to me. Rocky Mountain whitefish is what we gave and resembles it a bit to me.

  2. Fall fish, a type of chub. A lot of people don’t like them because they are aggressive and get your fly before trout can. They also ruin flies

  3. Fall fish. Largest fish in the minnow family, at least in Maine. I caught a pretty large one yesterday while smallie fishing the Andro. Fought harder and longer than every smallie I hooked into lol

  4. As everyone else said, fallfish. Fun fact, they can live pretty much anywhere trout or small mouth do, I catch them in the Shenandoah mountain streams and larger warm water rivers. I even tie a lot of streamers that imitate them which clean up on small mouth and larger trout. In fact, on the east coast they were high on the food chain before small mouth were introduced. They’re fun but have very soft mouths so don’t lip them!

One of the most underrated fish in my opinion. The Fallfish. An absolute blast to catch nymphing on lighter tippet and smaller rods. One of my favorite Native fish.
