I’ve tried a lot of shitty pipes, tubes, siphons over the years… just tried this cheap €10 siphon from Aqua One… and it is the BEST one I ever tried.

I normally fill a watering can with water from aquarium first to water plants in house, and then do rest of water change using a direct tap system all the way to kitchen, and previously it was a PITA to fill the watering can.

It does everything I was always looking for:

1: it can stick to glass so you can position it somewhere you want to start suction from, then lower it down into tank by sliding on inside of tank

2: easy start! The squeezer on end of tube makes it very easy to start water flow! No more mouth-fulls of dirty aquarium water in my mouth trying to suck start the water flow with plastic tubes!!

3: very fast. It was able to fill a large watering can I use in about a minute

4: easy to stop… pull and rotate water end so it’s out of water but still suctioned on glass, and drain tube.

5: very cheap!

It does everything I want. Only improvement I’d like is maybe some optional “narrow” attachment for water end because sometimes I want to vacuum tight spots between plants and glass way down at bottom and no way to get even this size end down there in gap.

I love these I just wish they made them much longer, I tried to hook one up to my my longer syphon but was sadly unsuccessful

I usually do the good ole straw suction. Nothing better than a mouthful of fish water and poop

  3. Looks good. My main problem at moment is a lot of my fish have become inquisitive when I’m siphoning water and I have to take care not to siphon the fish!

  4. Yeah those ones rock. Petsmart used to sell that exact one and it was the best. Now they sell longer bluish tinted ones and they are not as good. Only gripe I had with this one is it’s a little shorter, but the suction power is awesome

  5. I like the dip, lift, dunk method with a gravel vac. But good to hear those work good.

At harbor freight they sell a battery liquid transfer pump, that actually works very good. Only issue is the impeller is super fragile and I sucked up some sand and killed it. If I get one again I’m definitely putting a mesh media bag over it.
