Just got a kayak and a spinning rod that I am using to TRY and catch bass on Lake Jocassee in SC. I am using a #2 hook, with a 3/16 oz weight and a watermelon candy or morning dawm worm. This was the recommendation of the dude at Bass Pro. Ive been out a couple times for a few hours and havent caught anything yet. Should I switch it up to another style or worm or lure in general? Or do I need more patience? I am fishing on a lightweight LL Bean rod from this kit. https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/125093?csp=a&feat=9965-plalander&gnrefine=1*Color/Style*Brown
Is this setup correct or do I have some incorrect gear? Thanks!

It’s not uncommon to get skunked until you figure out what works for a particular spot. What time are they biting? What technique do you need to use? Etc.
I recommend trying different lures until you find something that works for YOU. Go to Wal-Mart, bass pro, or wherever….get a couple different 1/16 and 3/8 oz Rooster Tails, chatterbait, rig up a paddle tail, top water frog, etc.
At the end of the day, you have to be patient. I had several unproductive 4+ hour days on the water before I started landing decent fish.
