Should I tie the hook directly to the string or can I use this metal thing to make it easier to swap hooks?
If not, why?

It can impact the action of some lures. But growing up this is what I used for everything and I still caught fish.
It’s not a bad idea to practice your knots though. I can switch lures in thirty seconds or so even retying.

Tie it for practice, itll be super easy after a couple weeks. you still need to know the knots. I big clunking swivel will ruin the presentation of most baits and reduce the sensitivity of your line

If a fish is hungry it will eat.
