  1. StudentSuspicious on

The line keeps its form after being spooled. I switched to braid main line with a leader

  2. i spool a braided line onto my spin reels and then tie on a leader. The braid doesn’t have the memory that fluorocarbon has, so it tends to reel more smoothly. Can’t prevent this sorta thing 100%, but might be worth looking into along with other tips that come up here.

  3. Plastic line has memory from being on the spool. That is a wind wrap caused by the line being spoiled in the wrong direction, possibly to lose, or both. Lay the line spool down so the line comes off counter clockwise. Run it through the eye above the reel, tie it on and spool it tightly. That should fix the problem. Or go to braid. You can fish braid straight or with a leader.
    Good luck.

  4. Next time you put line on your real put it in a bucket of warm water as you spool it. It will help break the memory of the line. Also make sure you hold the lint tight as you spool your reel.
