I’ve had this reel for a couple weeks, and something I’ve noticed is that casting with it feels a lot harder than I’m used to. Part of that may be that I’ve previously been fishing saltwater which often has heavier baits, but it seems that even the heavier stuff like senkos with a 1/8 weight doesn’t get very far. I’ve read that underspooling can cause these issues (ironically I was really worried about over spooling when putting the line on… probably shouldn’t have been) and I’d like to know if this seems like too little. Reel is a Lews Mach 2 with 10lb test monofilament line.

yeah its under spooled but idk id think technique would be affecting ur casting much more than how much line ur working with
The ruler is straight diabolical.
Yea underspooling can affect casting distance, but your rod could be the culprit too. What rod you got?
Underspooling is fine. its overspooling that causes issues. Having too little line just causes more friction to rub against the spool and it doesn’t cast out as far.. that’s all
u need a combo of thinner fishing line and a rod w more action in order to cast lighter weight stuff. probably switch out the 10lb mono for braid. if the rods really stiff, will also have a harder time.
be like trying to rage throw an envelope into the surf 🙂
