Just wanted to get some of yalls advice if possible on increasing my bite rate.
I fished along all the yellow highlighted areas. (Red is just for a bit of location privacy since it’s close to home)
Conditions: good air pressure (green on fish brain)
Rainy, windy and overcast almost the entire time.
I fished along the banks, current breaks and structure. Made probably 1000 casts.
Lures:
– White super fluke on a Texas rig with a bullet weigh free sliding on the line, on an ewg, 2/O hook.
I fished it slow to medium, near the bottom jigging and twitching it periodically with occasional brief pauses.
-
Junebug senko (on the same setup)
I fished it slow with a lot of pauses and twitches, occasionally lifting it and letting it sink again. -
black and red top water buzz bait.
I fished it moderately fast with a straight retrieve between and along weed lines
Last week someone caught a 7lb bass out here on live bait. What would yall change about my actions in this position? And would you say it’s normal not to see much bass in these conditions along riverbanks?

Maybe fish a different lake..
Water temp?
I would say you should have focused where that 7 foot spike is and around that area instead of constantly moving.if they aren’t there change it up and stop fishing the bank and push out to deep current and structure. The other bank that goes from 16 feet to 3 would have been my focus as well. Ultimstley you need to find the bait to find the bass. Usually you want some current, quick depth change, and a proper thermocline. Where you fished just looks like the opposite of where I would have targeted! Your bait selection was on point..
Deep crank edges, those 13, and 16 ft edges ( bends where the current breaks around the land masses.. if you have any walls in deep water where they could pin the baitfish against . That would be my first try
Better than 6.5 hours at work
Keep your worm wet
Do a barrel roll! 🐰 jk.
If struggling and fish are finicky, use a weightless senko or try the Ned rig. Those will produce catches of all sorts of size bass. Give a panther martin inline spinner a shot too!
one of my go tos for fishing slow river banks like that is a curly tail grub on a 1/16 jig head. twitch it off the bottom or even slowly drag it if there arent too many snags
Isn’t the St.John river all about flipping the backwater areas? At least that’s what I saw from the BASS tournaments in the past.
11lbs. Next.
If you fish the bank for two hours and don’t get bit, get off the bank if it’s in any way a choice.
You’ve got a map with several interesting offshore spots. I’d go after those.
Also it’s fall, when in doubt add flash and fish faster
Hey that’s one more fish than I caught today!
When i used to fish in Florida I used to catch lots of bass on spinnerbaits and lipless Crankbaits.
Drag a ned rig down the banks and that bowl and you’re bound to get a few more
Some days they just aren’t feeling it. When in doubt it’s time to go back to the most extreme basics like wacky and Texas rigs.
Another method is something with a lot of action that covers a lot of water. My go-to here is a Chatter or spinner bait. If you put it in front of their face you can draw a strike response.
Don’t stick on one technique or color for too long and use variance + different speed of retrieves.
