I was given this kayak from a guy who fished and hunted ducks with it. It’s heavily modified. One thing it has is this rope under tension with a plastic triangle tied in the center along one side. What is this rope for?

Anchor trolley system. Allows you to have the anchor at the back, middle, or front which means you can face whichever way you want. It always prevents the kayak from spinning which is a problem one single roped anchors. Probably one of the most important mods for a fishing kayak if you don’t have the other expensive options.

It’s an anchor trolley! You can put an anchor line or stakeout pole through the triangle and use it to orient your kayak so that the wind/current affects it less.
