So I tried teaching myself to fish yesterday (never really had anyone to teach me) and I had a freaking blast. I want to teach my sons how to fish but I can’t teach them something idk. I started on a pier and just tried basic stuff (learning to tie knots, use my rod and reel, and getting to know the environment.). I have this Shakespeare catch more finish combo but am gonna try a bait caster because spinning is very messy experience so far. What would you guys recommend for pier fishing? How do you usually catch bites? What works for you?

  1. New line get 10lb mono to start will be under powered for peir but perfect for beginning ( trilene 10$ )

The pole is upside down too the reel should be under the pole not above easy fix and everyone does this. The handle can switch sides by unscrewing the cap on the opposite side. See what side feels best usually the way it comes is the preferred way

Get plastic stuff like this very cheap and easy to use. Will work just as good as anything else. Get the ones for now already with the hook so it’s easy peasy

Pole is fine forever can replace the reel with a shamino 3000/4000 size in the future
