I got this free from a friend who moved away. The reel works but with my Daiwa, when I tighten the drag, it will eventually turn to a point I can't turn and the drag will be at its max. With this reel, when locking the drag, it will reach near max and give in.

Numbers are not accurate but just for an example, nearing the end before it releases or give in, the drag would lets say be at 9KG, when it gives in as I continue to tighten the drag, it will fall back to 8kg.

Was curious on the mechanism and what makes it give in. I saw another post and if the drag knob is broken, I'll see if I can find some method of replacing it. Brand is some random unnamed brand so I think its just a cheap product, but I've seen my friend caught 40-50kg fish with this and it would be nice to have an extra reel for me.

Thanks in advanced.

There’s no need to turn it to the max, the drag mechanism is built in a way so as to protect the clicker from cracking.

  3. you are literally popping the screw over the threads and stripping it. stop doing it. that point is now where your drag stops. don’t break it more.
