This old shimano fx 1602-2a 6’ snapped at the handle while casting. Wondering if I over tightened the reel connection or just old plastic. Think it’s worth trying to put back together?

I’d say that’s a catastrophic failure and you’re gonna need a new rod. In my experience rods are expendable and simply won’t last forever if used.

If it has sentimental value, see if you can replace the handle and make it a wall-hanger. If it doesn’t, toss it and buy a new one
