While I hate to see all the employees losing their income source, I’m glad to see the family has decided to stick to their roots and go back to the more standardized product lineup (which made them the company they are today).
Orvis isn’t REI and it shouldn’t try to be
I’m an employee in the fishing department of an Orvis store in California that’s shutting down at the end of the year. Orvis is shifting its focus away from clothing and going full commit on fly fishing and hunting gear. Fishing is so much more profitable for the company.
Thankfully I have a job at the other fly shop in town lined up
