Doing a fall outing to Mammoth Lakes California, I've never been but I've heard a lot about the fishing at this place. I'm from the San Francisco/Oakland area in California so I've never fished for trout outside of winter and spring when the weather is cold enough for them to plant trout in the local lakes. I have caught a few in the mid summer at Donner Lake in Truckee on mice tails and powerbait, but never had luck with lures for trout yet. Do fall trout require different methods to fish? Do they come up shallow to the shoreline more or stay deeper? If anyone else has ever fished this area and has tips for lures or rigs I'd appreciate it. Will post catches at the end of the month
