This will be my first season out on the ice without tagging along with people who know their stuff. I fish this lake a lot (open water) and wanna try ice fishing here. It’s a pretty small lake and no one is really here too often so it’s not like I can ask locals. There’s a lot of bass and northern in here. Where would be a good start to set up the ice tent? I don’t have a garmin so I can’t find schools and move there.

I’m no expert, but I don’t think you’ll get much help based off this bathymetry

  2. If you are fishing in the fall try the spots you caught fish in then for starters.

Then stay mobile. For pike I would start shallow and move as needed. If you catch stay put. Don’t leave fish to catch fish. If you are not catching move.

Sounds simple but too many anglers set up and stay put.

If it is in the budget look at a Striker Ice or any sort of sonar.

Looks like a little pond. Drill 20 Holmes at various spots and move around between them.
