I’m a trophy hunter…essentially just pike and lake trout. I’ve caught a lot of giant pike, a couple in the mid 40s over 25lbs but never one of those generational fish until recently. I take avid notes on weather conditions from wind direction, barometric pressure (number and rising or falling), water temp, air temp, moon phase, and lunar highs and lows. Patterning this I’ve been able to sort of pick and choose my shots. So much time on the water I had an eerie feeling the night before. Even told my girlfriend I was going to catch a true unicorn over dinner. I almost stayed home but a deep gut feeling I hopped in the car with an hour and a half of daylight left. It came trolling on an 11” 7oz soft swimbait. The wind was intense, 3’ waves and sub 60 degree air temps. The hat on my head was my late uncles and one of my favorite fishing partners, I had just started wearing it regularly for the first time since his passing and truthfully I took this as a gift from him. Measurements were 47.2” and 33.0lbs, hope you enjoy the videos attached. I’ve caught a lot of giant pike but may never see something like this again
