So my wife and I just returned from a few days of fly fishing in the southern Appalachians.
On our fishing trips we camp. Our clothes are hanging in the back seat, usually other items are there too. My truck only has a 5’7” bed and I have a tonneau cover on it. So not many choices for rod storage other than broken down and stored away.
When spot-hopping I have to break down our rods and then re-rig them when we get to the next location. Some days I’m losing out on an hour or more of fishing because of the time spent rigging, breaking down, rigging, breaking down…2 rods at every stop.
We discussed a rod vault BUT I’m not sure that I want to go that route.
Anyhow, this afternoon I built us a 4 rod storage system for the bed of my truck.
Now we can just leave our rods rigged and break them down into 2 pieces. What was taking me close to 30 minutes will now take less than 1 minute.
