This is my first time having an aquarium and I have absolutely fallen in love with the hobby already. Ive had my boy, Tang, in this 10g tank for a little over a month now and I would say he's thriving! <3 I'm slowly replacing the fake plants with real ones, but only have java balls and frogbit stsrting up top at the moment. I would love to hear recommendations for first timer plants that'd fit well in this setup if anyone has any! 🌱

Gorgeous tank fir a gorgeous boy. You’re doing great, especially for a first aquarium! Plant wise, I’d go for something with leaves that your betta can rest on such as anubias and java fern (don’t bury these in your substrate though, as they will start to rot. They should be attached to hardscape such as rocks and driftwood). Java fern can be a bit fussy and have a tevdancy to encounter problems with no apparent case, however, so you might find an amazon sword to be slightly easier to keep. Crypts are also a pretty solid choice, incredibly hardy, but incredibly dramatic. They’re famous for undergoing a ‘crypt melt’ where their leaves essentially disintegrate. If you cut of affected leaves, they’ll start to grow in pretty quickly. If you’re looking for a carpeting plant, dwarf hair grass and helanthium tenellum green are pretty beginner friendly.
