Third biggest trout I've ever caught, too. I try to avoid the Sunday afternoon crowd whenever I can, but the W was pushin today and I figured it would scare some folks away. Was able to fish 3 nice pools to myself before I saw another fisherman. Water was low, I spooked a lot of fish… But one of them was one of the biggest I've ever seen in this river, I saw where she went to hide… Stood motionless for ~20 minutes waiting to see if it would come back out of the cutbank but it never did. Decided I'd see if it would eat in its 'safe' spot. First cast it came up and looked at the dry but turned away quickly. Second cast it ignored the dry but I got to watch it swing out and take my nymph dropped a foot under the dry. It was the most terrifying non-fight I've ever had with a fish. Kept light pressure expecting it to make a run and pull line, or dash to the log at the deep side of the run, or jump and thrash, and it never did. Less than 30 seconds after I hooked it, I had it in the net. After releasing, it hung around the shallows on the near side of the run for a minute and I got to snap a nice in water picture too.
