I’m young and just recently paid fully for a new boat! Previously had a small 14’ John and now have a semi real fishing boat. I was just curious for others with boats what are some “game” changing upgrades or changes you’ve done to your boat? It’s barebones right now, no sonar, or anything so any recommendations would be nice. Also wondering what thoughts are on bahimi tops. Thank 🙏😊

  1. Electronics with good mapping and side scan, and a trolling motor with spot lock.

Those 2 upgrades make a MASSIVE difference.

  2. If the boat has a rail system, adding a few rails and rod holders is a great idea. Magnetic tool holders are really nice to have too. I added a 3 rod holder to the side of the console on my boat and slid some soft foam from a computer box behind it to stop it from rattling and it’s made such a difference. A good fish finder/gps with a map chip is also a great idea.

  3. on the cheap start buying Scotty mounts. you can add tracks on your rails, can diy them real easy. then take it out by your self and fish it and think of where you want everything to go. look around free old boats on fb and take a railing off of one. some shorty side rails would be cool too since you have kids. with railing you can attach to it as well
