Hey friends, I'm just doing some maintenance on my ocean kayak getting ready for summer and the aluminium slide rails for my kayak seat are not functioning very smoothly. I don't know how to describe the mechanisms so I'm hoping you'll work it out from the pictures. I want to lather them in lithium grease and hope for the best but I know that's gonna mean grease will spread to anything that touches and be smelly and annoying. Also considering replacing the slides with stainless steel ones designed for a car seat which will have a much more user friendly mechanism and be able to slide with my weight on the seat (currently I have to get off the seat to slide it).

Has anyone come across this before and overcome it?

Thanks ❤️

Try some bike chain wax in a spray can(you can find it Wally World), it should stay on better. And have the benefit of not getting everywhere you don’t want it.
