Hello everyone! I'll get straight to the point.
I haven't had my betta for very long; I've had her for 1 month and 10 days now. I've not kept fish for much longer than that, I got my first tank maybe a month before I got Pearl.
Anyway, when I say I'm constantly stressing I mean it. I don't know how a betta is supposed to act, what's bad and what's normal, what I could be doing better. I'd really appreciate if I could talk to someone directly about this whenever I get a question.
If you'd be available to help a beginner out, I'd really appreciate if you let me know!
(The picture I added is of Pearl, it's a few weeks old. Nowadays there aren't any other fish in her tank.)

Hey, Pearl’s gorgeous! 🙂 I totally get the worrying – bettas can be dramatic and make you overthink everything. Healthy bettas should be pretty active, swimming around and definitely excited when they see you (especially for food). They rest on leaves or decor sometimes, but shouldn’t be laying at the bottom being lifeless most of the time.
If she’s actually lethargic – inactive, hiding constantly, ignoring food – check your water parameters and temp first. Those are usually the culprits. Bettas need 75-81°F and clean water to feel good.
But honestly, if she’s eating well, has bright colors, and swims around with purpose even if it’s just sometimes, you’re probably overthinking it and she’s fine. We’ve all been there with the fish parent anxiety lol
All of my bettas are different with different personalities. The best thing about getting a new betta is learning their personalities. I LOVE seeing them do their own thing. Even if it’s just looking at a leaf and them going “HOW DARE YOU??!!”
Most worrying thing about bettas is what the other person commented. If they are lethargic aka not eating, moving, or being their usual self, check the tank and make sure everything is in order.
The more plants you have, the less you have the chance of a water problem (stil always check!). Your tank looks awesome and your lil girl looks awesome too!
I just wanted to say your tank setup in the background looks amazing! I love the aqua-scaping.
