An absolute banger long weekend in the High Sierra and Eastern Sierra! September and October are great for trout as crowds die down and water cools off.

  1. 23" rainbow at Saddlebag Lake (PB!)
  2. Big-headed brook trout near Saddlebag (I was told there isn't a lot of food for them at 10,000 feet so their bodies don't grow alongside their heads, making them big-headed)
  3. Handsome brown out of (the very hard to fish) Lee Vining Creek
  4. Owens River with the first snowstorm of the year blowing in over the mountains
  5. Sunrise from Lee Vining

This place is heaven!
