This is Pluto. He (or perhaps she) was sold to me as a male dumbo. However, after going to my other LFS, they had a whole sorority of girls that looked exactly like him. Now I'm not so sure seeing as I saw a dumbo betta of his same colouring, male, that was well, definitely male with a big flowy tail. I have another betta who is a short fin samurai, so I didn't think too much about Pluto having shorter fins. I'm pretty new to keeping bettas in the grand scheme of things, so I'm definitely inexperienced when it comes to sexing them aside from the obvious.
He has made a bubble nest in the past, but I've heard that some females do that anyway.

Check the females at the sorority you mentioned. Do they have a little white bump under the gills between the front fins? That’s their egg spot and how most are identified as female

Male. Longer, thicker ventrals and male head and gill shape.
Thanks all!! Is it normal for male dumbos to have shorter tails?
