Just got into fly tying TODAY. Been fly fishing a few years and have been wanting to get into tying for quite some time. Went to the fly shop today to pick up some flies and instead walked out with a vice and a bunch of materials for 4 of my most used flies. I know it looks bad, too much material and a bit sloppy, but I know this will fish! This took me a while to tie and it was very annoying, I just couldnt get the angles right when using the thread and wire, kept having to take off the cradle, and my neck hurts LOL. Please, Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You’ll never fish a cheap fly again. But it will be enjoyable. And not a bad fly for a first.

Great job! Also my personal confidence fly. Shorten the tail. I tie mine with no tail. I don’t think it makes a darn bit of difference to fish.
