Betta Fish: Is my tank over crowded with floating plants?
Hi! I’m new to owning a betta as an adult so I’m still learning. Is my tank over crowded with floating plants? I just added them tonight and can fix it in the morning if needed!

Not too crowded! Especially because you have space in the middle if he wants to breathe from the surface, looks awesome tho love the variety

Are they all new plants? If so, let them sort it out for a bit before you remove any just in case some decide to be dramatic lol. But still, no it’s not overcrowded unless you start to see your other plants in the tank start to melt because too much light is blocked. The surface plants have the CO² advantage so you may need more ferts at some point for the others. Oddly I have a tank where my surface plants get pale before the others when nutrients get too low so… idk, but surface plants can generally become hogs. Duckweed can get out of control and it’s sticky but at the same time it kinda can help support the water lettuce by holding it still- at least this seems to be the case in one tank where I have giant duckweed, frogbit, and water lettuce. The whole top gets covered but my light is strong and so far my other plants are ok and I just grab a fist full of excess and remove when necessary. I don’t have a floating ring in that tank although I should think about it (it’s a snail tank and we all manage without a ring lol). You might see some of the plants outcompeting each other or kinda strangling others, so you just want to watch for that. Looks great and love the variety!
