There aren’t any elk where I’ve fished, and if I saw some so close I would certainly slowly get away.
The only notable animal friend I can recall is when I went to Canada I had a very large bald eagle land right next to me, claws bigger than my hands. I realized then that if I soon caught a fish it would not be mine to keep

In GSMNP. Was fishing in a creek, had a couple of elk cows walk in above me, then the bull followed. He looked at me, walked my way a bit, then crossed over. WAY TO SPOIL THE RUN.

Never had the privilege of elk crashing my creek! I can relate to the presence of eagles though. My friends and I see them so much at my local creek, we don’t call them out anymore!

I’d be scared if I encountered a wild elk. If you fish you will encounter wild life of all kinds. Use caution when needed.
