I've only ever fished as a kid but want to get back into it. Are these rods still useful, or should I buy new ones. If I should by new ones, what is the best for a beginner?

  1. Man, as long as the cast OK they can catch fish if they’re really pissing you off then you got the money then there’s plenty of great entry-level rods. I would recommend getting one from Cabela’s as they have a lifetime warranty for snapping and will replace it on the spot, they also have good beginner rods. Exact rod depends on the type of fishing you do. Best of luck

Caught a mess of bluegill of a rod and reel my dad had since the ‘70’s this spring using a hook, split shot, and bobber out of a tackle box my grandpa owned and used. Fish don’t care when your gear was made.

  3. 1. Yes.

    2. Depending on storage conditions, you might want to give them some lubricant and probably replace the line.

My original rod hasn’t been used that much but is over 30 years old.
