Okay, so today was the day I decided to get some new shrimp. I got two blue ones, two orange and one red. Unfortunately, as I was done naming them either my loach or my Betta nipped at Valentina, and I found her un alived within the span of an hour. I put in extra bloodworms so he and Cleo would be less enticed to nip, and that seemed to have helped because Fanta and Pumpkin are still alive… Another thing that's troubling me is that when I separated the group of shrimp, two blue in my males tank with black racer snails and the other three (now two) in my females tank, I made sure to keep a close eye on them. Since Valentina died I watched over Cleos tank for a bit longer, and when I came back to check on Felipe's tank (male Betta), one of the two blue shrimps were and still are gone. There's good places to hide ofc, but I find it odd that Blueberry is actively out and about exploring the tank while Cora is nowhere to be found… I'll link any video and picture I have, also warning for un alive Valentina
TL:DR –> Cora, blue shrimp is missing and Loach in female Betta tank and female Betta nipping at orange shrimp after finding red girl un alived; advice needed and extra food provided to stop the aggression.

I attempted a female betta in my shrimp tank the other day. Needless to say she is now in her own separate tank after witnessing her trying to get some shrimp. Yesterday she was so bloated and full looking, I imagine she got a couple while I wasn’t watching. Doubt it’s the loach.
There’s not much you can do to stop the aggression. Shrimp are tasty snacks as far as the betta are concerned. A betta is a predator and the shrimp are its prey.
I’m gonna hold your hand when I tell you this….but betta’s find shrimp go be a tasty snack
Thing with Betta and shrimp is: Shrimp is Bugs, Betta are Insectivores.
Some Betta are not shrimp-safe at all and may hunt them for sports once the distraction of food is wearing down.
Betta may or may not view shrimp as food. It’s not malice or aggression nor something that can be ‘trained out of them’/avoided once your Betta does it.
Some Betta will be wholly unbothered by shrimp and couldn’t care less if they are part of the tank.
Other Betta may even watch the shrimp with curiosity, while not seeing them as food (or a threat, some will also flare at and tail whip them because they feel some sort of rivalry – one brightly colored being to the other).
It’s very common for bettas to kill shrimp from what I understand. I myself bought one when I had my pink veiltail betta, and within 20 minutes he killed the poor thing
I got the big brownish shrimp and they have been fine. But it’ also depends on the bettas aggression level. My girl is a whomp 😂
