Hi all!
I was planning to get a betta from my LFS next week since my tank is ready, but I went with my family to petsmart today to get some dog toys and I was peeking at the bettas. I started talking to an employee, and long story short, I got sent home with this little guy for free because he's showing signs of diamond eye.
If any owners have fish with diamond eye and have any tips for helping him feel more comfortable, I'd love that- and I'd also love some name suggestions for him!
He's VERY active and likes to follow my finger around the glass, and he keeps staring at me while I sit at my desk. I'm attached already.
Sorry for the bad photos- he's very small and very fast, and my phone can't keep up 😭

Garlok, the Conqueror
What a sweet little guy! 💙❤️
Diamond eye sucks but he can still live a great life. I would suggest starting a feeding routine before he loses his vision – a signal (I lightly tap the lid of the aquarium) and then food in a consistent spot (I use a floating log).
One of our girls has diamond eye in one eye only, and as it progressed she became super restless until I covered the back & sides of her tank with black paper. I think she was seeing shadows or reflections. Just something to watch out for!
My name suggestions are Disco or Confetti.
