I have gear to target just about anything. I’ve been doing most of my salmon fishing on a G Loomis E6X with a Shimano Tranx 300 or a Diawa Metallia SSS and Stradic 4000.
In the rivers I fish it’s mostly fly, float, or floss. I don’t know how to fly fish, flossing doesn’t feel great, so I’ve been wanting to float fish. My other rods are great for twitch jigs and spinners, but this 10’ Shimano Scimitar and my C4 are my best option for floating right now.

To me it looks the same when I dial the brakes all the way back. But I have never actually used a Centerpin.

How much of a difference does the extra length in the rod and appropriate reel make when float fishing? Am I going to see a genuine improvement in presentation and sensitivity?

And then what do I want for gear if that’s the case? Around me there’s lots of Trophy and Kingpin reels in the shops. I know nothing about this style of reel and rod combo. Thanks for your time.
