I Finally Got a Jaguar Cichlid for My Biggest Tank!

In today’s video, I’m unboxing a beautiful Jaguar Cichlid (Parachromis managuensis) and adding it to my 220-gallon aquarium — one of the most exciting and aggressive additions I’ve made yet.

Jaguar cichlids are known for their power, attitude, and incredible patterning, and this one doesn’t disappoint. I also added a Trimac cichlid to the tank, hoping to balance the aggression and create a stable hierarchy among some seriously dominant fish.

Join me as I talk about:
– Unboxing and acclimating the new Jaguar Cichlid
– How to manage aggression in large Central American cichlid tanks
– Updates on the Trimac and other tank mates
– Tips for keeping large, territorial cichlids together successfully

This is a must-watch if you love Jaguar Cichlids, Trimacs, or big aggressive cichlids!

  1. I hate moving cichlids that gained your trust. Its like your ruining all that work. I mean, usually they come right back but I always feel bad. All that work and trust is gone when that net hits the water. Its gotta be done though. Some dont give a crap.

  2. God bless you Alec, and your patience. Those Vieja will take all the patience because they are just nuts and peace is so hard unless it’s in like a 600 gallon like Mike had and even then it’s hard because they are just relentless lunatics…
Love rhe Trimac, and dude i absolutely love the Jag…I have gone the 1 fish tank route and never looking back…love my Dovi being all alone with no casualties to worry about…and my next move is either a Black Nasty solo tank or a Solo Jag tank…ahh decisions…decisions.

  3. “Unsexed” cichlids from Imperial Tropicals almost always means female 🤣 They had 6-7 inch “unsexed” Venustus. I’m like cmon guys. Thanks for sharing

  4. My favourite online brothers all have exciting and ongoing projects in search of that elusive perfectly balanced tank (although it should rather read tanks as we all tend to have different setups at once) 😀 I'm already excited to see how your tanks and beautiful fish will evolve Alec!

  5. Great Video. I asked Ben ochart about Viejas, and he said it was best to keep one or like 10 of them. If you have somewhere in between where you have more than one but not enough, the aggression gets outrageous. Love the nasty too.

  6. that jungle valley will grow as long as you let it. some people do great with val, I do not for some reason. I think that is is tempature change sensitive. So keep that in mind when doing water changes.

  7. The jag looks great, good luck in his new home. I know a 75 gallon is too small for the wolf, jaguar or yellow jacket. Any recommendations on a similar fish ( single wet pet) that will fit in a 75 gallon

  8. I miss my jag….had him in a 100 gal with oscars….it lived for almost 8 yrs…was like 10-12 inches…was a monster….very hearty fish…would eat anything and lived through everything….was on vacation….lost power for like 3 days…..came home….was still alive like nothing happened…along with the oscars

  9. Siiivk- Let’s 🐟…Go … One day all good but D next day 💀‼️💥🏴‍☠️🥷⏳🎬 Ko Ko / keep on keeping on . It’s always a Gamble… 🐟💨🫧‼️ cause knowing is Half D Battle ☮️

  10. Wow, Love that mix of fish, gotta be tricky to deal with. Just an idea but I think a carpentis could be another add if you want to take a risk. 🔥

  11. I heard of this fish just a week ago! There is one at lfs and I stopped to look at the jag & this fish looked back and snapped at me and started pacing back and forth! It's body language was saying, "who the f*** are you staring at, bro!" That jag chiclid is the most aggressive aquarium fish I've ever seen….

  12. Hey nice fich
I have been keeping central american cichlid for over 10 years ore more.
My tip for reducing aggression is breaking the view lines and give them some caves.
That's been the best result for me.
In the past adding some ditter fich ( in my case big barbs) also worked wel.
Dis doesn't work with all off them.
The amphilophus lyonsi that i now have dint like barbs and killed them off 😢.
It is always a bith off searching wath works

  13. See dat Male Haitiensis he is at the right size to get a mate did ,but my opinion I would find 2 females within 2" of the male close to his size n u may have to put dividers in aquarium n put Male in the middle bruh dem males can be very nasty frfr n u have a stunner can't wait to see him grow 👍🏾🤜🏾🤛🏾
