My poor betta is hanging in there for almost 2 weeks. He eats fine but nothing is working, he barely moves, stays at the bottom of the tank all the time.

I’ve tried: starve him for a couple of days, salt, Bettafix, Fin and Body Cure, Kanaplex. Nothing. There’s white stuff on his face that I thought it was bacteria but I cannot cure it.

  1. Oh gosh, as macabre as it is your post gave me hope. My Bluey suddenly took a turn for the worse and he has been sinking to the bottom since yesterday. I thought he would die but he was alive today and I moved him to a hospital tank. I tried Kanaplex with no success, as well. I’m trying Api Erythromycin now.

Is he in there temporarily and you move him back to a tank or how does that work?

  2. Few things to point out.

    1. What are your water parameters and tank setup like? Whatever is on your bettas face may not have anything to do with his activity level.

    2. Bettafix is not a medication and it is actually not good for bettas because it contains essential oils (tea tree oil in this case). Not only will this stuff not actually heal anything, but it can interfere with a betta’s overall respiratory process.

    3. You should not be mixing fin and body cure (doxycycline) and kanaplex. You are likely overmedicating your fish– whatever is wrong with him please make sure you are medicating him in a safe way and not overdosing antibiotics that can interfere with each other.

If you are able to answer the questions in my first point, this sub can probably better assist you with diagnosing.
