I bit the bullet and bought a trolling motor. Side mounted bracket… Threw it away. Cut the top and bottom off the motor and threw the middle away as well. Still a bit of tweaking to do but I'm thrilled with the progress. Had to make a rudder for steering because of the way the motor now attaches. I built a couple of kayaks about 15 year ago but paddling becomes harder as you age (72). The motor hopefully means I can get a lot more use out of them.
