hey guys! i work at a pet store and this guy got surrendered to me. he was sold yesterday but the people brought him back saying they woke up and he was sick but i find that extremely hard to believe, and frankly bs. my friend watched him until i got to work and im driving home with him now. i have a tank set up for him. i dont even know if hes gonna live, his back looks bent and it looks like he has some fungal or bacterial infection or both. his fins look shredded from the filter and he just sits at the bottom in a bent position gasping for air. he ate 1 little pellet so i still have hope, but im
not really sure how to go about this and what to do first. first thing he’s getting at home is some yummy bloodworms so he has something in his system.
emotionally, im actually disgusted because they most definitely physically harmed him. there’s no way he could just get like that in one day. people need licenses to own animals, and the thought of breaking any animal to the point its barely alive is appalling.

Parents unfortunately arent going to admit the truth at their lack of parenting skills with their child and/ or they think fish arent in the same level as a dog or cat because they cant build relationships the same way.
Poor guy. Luckily his fins don’t look like they’re beyond repair, but if his back is bent like that then I would suggest putting him in a shallow tank so he can still get to the top and gulp for air. Especially with those longer fins. Try adding some tannins for sure as well. It definitely wouldn’t hurt.
I agree people really should get classes on pet care and get a pet owning license before getting any pets it’s just disgusting that someone can harm an innocent animal like that. I wish you good luck with treating this poor little guy I hope he can recover and enjoy a happy life
Please keep us updated, I hope and pray that this little guy will survive and have a good life
That poor baby ☹️
I really hope he pulls through.
It is also possible that he jumped out of the aquarium. Fungal infections very often occur after getting out of the water by jumping out of the tank or pond.
