Is there something wrong with this setup? I get nudges but haven’t been able to land anything.
Setup:
Ultra light
Slip bobber
I think it’s a 3” or 2.5” gulp minnow
Tied with a drop shot sinker

Usually you use a couple of split shots to keep the bobber upright in the water
I’m a noob too so don’t take my word srsly. I’ve done this exact setup with a berkely fake worm for a pond that was maybe 2 feet deep. I also got a bunch of nibbles, only one land and sadly it was a turtle(he was ok tho) I did put a small splitshot 8 inches up from the hook though to keep the bobber from smacking into the hook but also weigh down the line.
Try a pencil float. ( long and skinny) and a splitshot up about 12″ or so.
That’s a pretty fat float and hard to pull down. A thin float will be more sensitive to the bite.
