Caught in grand county, Colorado on public water. I still can't believe I pulled this guy in, even on an 8wt rod and 12lb tippet. "Netting" it was a real challenge.
I was throwing streamers but the bite slowed down mid day so I threw on a Circus Peanut, the biggest streamer in my collection. A few casts later this guy took it and just started ripping line, then sat on the bottom like a ton of bricks. I was honestly exhausted after landing him.
I'm pretty sure it's close to the state record of 29.75 inches and is 2-3x the size of my previous best.
