Found while doing a big water change/tank clean. He’s pretty cute but is he bad to have in my tank? I dug through the substrate and didn’t see any more.

Looks like a ramshorn. Harmless as long as you dont overfeed

If he is harmless I’ll throw him back in, I have 3 nerite snails living in the tank (20 gal) but he is definitely not a baby nerite!

Seems to be a leapord patterned ramshorn snail, beneficial, won’t harm anything and will eat algae and excess food. They can definitely multiply like crazy if you have 2+ and overfeed often, but with just one theres no risk of that, and whenver it happens in my tanks I just take them out and sell them to my LFS.

Looks like a leopard ramshorn snail. Did you add any plants recently? It could have hitch-hiked. It’s fine to leave in but even if you take it out now, you’ll likely find more. They are hermaphrodites but still need sperm from another snail to reproduce, however they can store sperm from another snail for months. I bought a single ramshorn and I’ve been removing egg clutches from it’s tank almost daily. Definitely missing some too because I’ve also been removing tiny snails recently lol. They’re cute though and help with algae control! But basically impossible to get rid of once you get even one in your tank.
