I learned that the colorful gravel is essentially cancer rocks, so I bought some new substrate to use that will help when i get more live plants. How long after I change the substrate should I wait before reintroducing my Betta? I don’t want to stress him out or make him sick! Should i buy plants in advance? Thanks!

If you plan on getting plants I’d wait to do the substrate until you have them. It’s much easier to do all at once while the water is out/low.
