I got my betta exactly a week ago. All she does is glass surf, literally all day. She can do her reflection and I think that may be why, but I don’t want her to keep doing it all day so she doesn’t get too stressed. I feel so bad. I think she’s bored. I have a floating mirror that I put in her tank once a day for 3 minutes so she can flare, I play tag with her, I draw on the outside of her tank, I put my hand in her tank and she’ll swim laps around it, but I literally have no idea why she keeps glass surfing. Please help!

    For the b0t:

    Tank size: 10 gallon
Heather and filter? Yes to both
    Tank temperature: 79° stable
    Parameters: ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm, pH 6.7, nitrate 10ppm
The tank has fully cycled before getting my fish
Ive had my fish for a week
I feed 3 fluval bug bites twice daily
I have all silk plants, petrified wood, various types of quartz, and a floating betta log

  2. My betta fish did that for about a month before showing interest in her tank surroundings. Maybe it’s normal. I felt the same way you did, though. It was stressing me out. She stopped doing it. Yours probably will, too. I was surprised how long it took

  3. A week into a new environment you can expect them to still be glass surfing, if it continues after another week then I’d be a little more concerned however your tank is somewhat bare compared to what bettas really like ! More plants in the middle and up front could give her some more “areas” to explore by breaking up the big open space. Also double check your light schedule, if the room is dark and tank light is on (and somewhat bright) then they can usually see their reflection

  4. Was she in a cup before? Maybe she’s like 🐟😁 holy shit I’m not in a cup 🐟😁 holy shit I’m not in a cup 🐟😁
