Betta Fish: Relative gifted my paralyzed dad who is in hospice this and I’m horrified
I’m still in shock that this was given. We immediately took it home and I have the tank cycling right now. WHO GIVES A MAN WITH ALS WHO IS PARALYZED AND DYING A HIGH MAINTENANCE FISH???!??

Scoop the fish out, leave the plant, when they ask where the fish went just tell them it died 🤷♂️

Uhm to be honest it’s a common “underrealisation”. I mean they might be really just ignorant on the life quality of fish. It’s terrible, but they are not doing this being evil. It’s good that you can rescue this fish as well, because otherwise it’s probably highly likely suffer his whole life in somebody else’s hands! Take it positive.

My very first betta when I was a child lived in a vase like this. He came with a plant but we eventually removed it. His name was Bubbles and he was a blue veil tale. He lived for seven years. Definitely didn’t make it okay and this definitely isn’t okay. Thanks for giving the fish a better life!

Bettas are not “high maintenance”, but they absolutely need a minimum of 5 gallons, heater and filter. Either way, yeah its really messed up that someone gifted a paralyzed person a *fish*, especially in a tiny vase thats going to require MANY water changes every single day, and that betta is gonna live a terrible life in that vase. Im glad you brought it home and are cycling a tank for it, I love people like you 💕 however, i am not prepared for the hundreds/thousands of posts coming soon for people getting gifted betta fish for Christmas, secret Santa, and elephant gifts.
