So I fish in the PNW and have recently been trying out a monorig tightline setup now that the dry fly action is limited to a few hours a day. I'm using the troutbitten standard mono rig.

So far things are going basically as advertised; I'm catching a lot more fish while nymphing. I was recently on the Yakima and had my best day ever in terms of numbers for that river. Unfortunately probably 80% of them were whitefish. I have nothing specific against whitefish, but I would rather not have to deal with them.

So I'm asking folks here, is there any way to tightline and avoid whitefish? Any ideas at least? Or is this just something I'm going to have to deal with on certain rivers using a mono rig.

Pic is the first fish I caught on a tight line, really made me feel the euronymph elitism
